Bringing (GNU) Linux to your Android device

Bringing back an old project

Its been a while now since this project has had any activity, times change people move one to other things and life gets in the way.

I have said this in the past and really hoped to bring this project back, however the past few years really did… well prevent that. I, for quite some time fell out of love with the project, and with Android in general. My focus shifted away from Android and into iOS, working on new projects and interested.

BUT there is still life in the old girl yet. I feel this project never quite got to a ‘completed’ v1 stage.. many many things I wanted to get completed never happened. As the years have moved on so have peoples phones, and Linux in general, in that time I have heard many people say their reasons for rooting a phone have become less and less. When Android itself can do so much why bother?

Well, I hope to change that, I hope to bring back once again a real solid reason to actually root your phone. Fully functioning (GNU) Linux distros. When Android phones are now coming out with 8GB+ of RAM why on earth not! Lets push this project once more!!

Consider the project alive again. My work life is still busy but I will be making time for this project, you will notice the website has had a face lift for one. I will be updating the pages on the site to reflect the current state of play and what we can look forward to in the future. Along side that I will be switching back on the Forums and Wiki areas.

Finally if anyone wishes to take part in the project, be it testers (which I will need many!), as a developer or just to provide support to fellow users please comment on this post and lets get in touch!

I hope the project great again.
As a beginner, I have to study Linux a lot to be your tester. 🙂

I have a 2013 Nexus 7 flo on which I would like to install Kali NetHunter 2019.2 so I can do some Wi-Fi pentesting.
I have attempted following the instructions on the nethunter site but I am having trouble installing ath9k_htc diver for my tp-link TL -WN722N v1 which prevents me from putting the Wireless NIC in monitor mode

I am willing to test for you.
